Beliefs Exercise

All of our education, work, and life experiences cause us to form assumptions and beliefs about ourselves and the world around us over time. Some of these beliefs become very deeply rooted over the years, while others are less influential. Our beliefs continually shape our decisions and our behavior every day -- and can be the source of great service to ourselves and others -- or hold us back from reaching our true potential.

Please tell us about some of the beliefs that you have about yourself and the world around you -- and indicate whether this belief serves you or holds you back. Sometimes we are not conscious of our beliefs and so you might want to revisit this exercise again later -- on your own or with a peer, mentor or coach. An example of a belief about ourselves that serves us is "I am very good at solving problems." An example of a belief about ourselves that might hold us back is "I don't deserve to win."

Take some time to think about this exercise and please tell us about some of your beliefs that come to mind by filling out the form below and adding the information to your profile. You can also revisit this exercise anytime.
